    @technomancy this is also the #1 power user gripe about Safari, and given the quickly-changing search territory there’s some (misguided I think) hope it’ll come in the next version this fall. Even using Kagi as default in Safari requires a lot of hoop-jumping

    … Which has me wondering if someone else has used those same hoops to provide this feature via an extension

      @technomancy pessimistically though I think it’s more likely we’ll get “Apple Intelligence as default search engine” in the next Safari than “user has default engine options other than Google, Bing, DDG, Yahoo, and Ecosia”

      @mattly @technomancy Having myself being annoyed by the fixed list of search engine choices, I was delighted to discover that if one installs the qwant extension, it will override the builtin choice (if one can accept qwant as a reasonable choice of search engine).
