The only place I know with a turnover rate above 100% that hires engineers is Amazon. Is it Amazon? -

that's how all these startups work, they give you good pay and make you think you'll be there indefinitely but then they burn you out with insane demands, and if you still stay anyway then they just fire you for not being good enough, so they can bring in some other loser and work him 80 hours/week until he burns out too

too bad software devs never unionized, but even then, today's union leaders in every industry are a bunch of faggots who are more on the side of the company leadership than the workers

I don't even like the idea of unions, they shouldn't be necessary and they often lead to lazy workers. Companies should just pay their workers well and treat them decently, and workers should work reasonably hard in return.
But of course all of this is a symptom of a much greater problem, which is that money has become more important than community in today's work world. It's always been that way to some extent, but bringing in interchangeable foreign workers (who work for less and don't complain, but you get what you pay for) has compounded the issue. There's very little trust and loyalty between workers and management in most places these days.

@vic @zonk Woah there bub, did you mention a UNION? Sounds like we have a communist in our midst. Didn't you know only communists band together against corporate BS? Smh not a true blooded American

@vic @zonk That would only work in an idealistic world of rational market acting spherical cows of uniform density. People will lie, cheat and steal to get ahead and the people who have the most money and power are usually the most willing to be malicious for more. Community has been destroyed for decades for a multitude of equally valid reasons so money is all that's left for most.
I've personally seen one of my parents try to strive in the system most of their adult life. What did they get for it? Laid off from a good well-paying job at a place they had been working in for 20+ years. Workplace loyalty gets you nothing. You will be used until you're not useful anymore and promptly discardedHoss Delgado likes this.
