   For non-Singaporeans: SG famously sends its best and brightest to study in Harvard, Oxbridge etc on generous scholarships and then gets them back to head top positions in civil service.      @cydonian You are 100% correct. I don't think many Americans fully understand just how much goodwill they are burning on a pyre. The kind you can't get back, even if the government changes. Being from the US and having lived in South Asia for five years, I think Americans don't really get how much the world just goes on without them. We tend to think that we are indispensable but the biggest shock will be when the world fully stops listening to the US and vote with their feet and wallets.
