EE folks: how do you check for continuity when the footprints are on the opposite side of the board?

i would usually use my apparently fairly good hand-eye coordination to simultaneously hold the board and two test probes and position the probes precisely enough for 0.5mm pitch ICs
this only works if i can push one of the probes against a bump of some sort, and is _very_ awkward, but i've done it a lot
