I wasn't paid to fact-check but I did it reflexively, the same way I'd google a cleverly-written phrase or analogy to be sure I wasn't accidentally 'plagiarizing' via independent invention
It's heartbreaking knowing that the tools that spared me so much embarrassment are now useless
