   Increasingly I find that Windows is too busy doing other things to find the time to be my operating system.

   How many of my CPU cycles are being used in the service of Microsoft and not me, I wonder?

     @jasongorman On all but high end machines, effectively 90% or more of the resources are wasted by crapware shipped with the OS.

     This *is* fixable. Basically you go in services and turn almost everything off, autoruns & turn everything off, task scheduler & turn everything off, then look up the current way to nuke Windows update for your version and do it.
