So it turns out Judith Collins lied when claiming Te Pāti Māori held up the vote on The Treaty Principles bill in the House. As smallest party in parliament TPM were the last to vote on the first reading of the bill and had voted prior to performing a #haka in protest to this colonial power play.
The committee particularly asked for contextual information about penalties. One member even asked for information about imprisonment.
Findings based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the sequence of events would be highly embarrassing. Findings tainted by political or other prejudice would bring both the committee and the Parliament into disrepute. #NZPol
