I really like Webb and Cristian, and I've often looked up the stuff they've talked about and their reporting/analysis seems solid. It seems weird to think of either as controlled opposition .. or you think Odysee is using them and taking them for a ride?

@djsumdog I haven't looked at all in the human aspect.
Aside the red flag of hosting on Microsoft Github.
Legally speaking the license is weak, and the economical model isn't sound either imo, so to me it's just a disguised youtube with a crypto chain on it.
Then the software used is to me heavy for what it's supposed to do.
I have more faith in Peertube code, even tho I have several criticisms of it like fetching magnets/torrents without the need of loading JS or that seeding from a client still doesn't help with the video streams (even tho it should work as the libtorrent libraries support these for some time now).

I don't know these people enough to say anything.
In general terms we never know what can happen with people. In France many years ago the entity Laquadrature we're quite a robust non lucrative defend internet users rights, now they bicker over pronouns.
And they aren't the only ones. The OSI is pretty much a pawn of the FANGMANs now, especially since EsR got removed from it.
That aside I'm more worried/inquisitive about the tools I've been suspecting the corpos and govs are using to change/replace or destroy people faster that we can react and adapt to the changes.
