You should ask them why they chose AutoCAD over kicad or freecad.

@p @Mitsu KiCad is for PCB design and FreeCAD is mostly a 3D parametric CAD. Neither of those work like AutoCAD. A more AutoCAD-like free CAD is LibreCAD, but it crashed a lot 2 years ago when I used and was painful to use.
FreeCAD can do architecture design in the Arch workbench, but considering how broken the normal workbenches can be, it probably wouldn't be nice to use. -
