     @typeswitch Much worse than feudal in many ways! If a feudal lord lets their land burn and rot, or their peasants and serfs die, that's their head on the line and they can't just externalize it to be someone else's problem. And our workdays are longer and we pay a substantially great percentage of our labor value between landlords+taxes+alienated profit.

     @typeswitch it's always so eye-opening to read about what it looked like for the individual worker to transition from peasant life into wage labor https://aeon.co/essays/extra-virgin-olive-oil-is-the-flavour-of-mechanisation. It always seems to happen at gunpoint.
