I'm trying to convince jerm to get one for me, he just don't wanna pay $200 for an inflatable thingy :animu_giggle:
(The fan cost atleast 100$)

Some people use those inflatable waving man things you see outside of car dealerships
And scarecrows also seem to work

Those I could handle without hurting myself, so that sounds pretty good. 🤔

Fox got into the yard, I had one missing (I think it got grabbed) and the other one, I honestly think she died of fright
No injuries, just heavy breathing, an hour later after attack, she just died
I know they can do that, and she was very timid
Im sorry about yours too :( :hug_apu:
The flying bastards are the worse
Will you replace them?

Wish I knew how to utilize a drone to keep hawks away from chickens....But I wouldn't know how to do that, since I'm not a big enough nerd. 😕

Aww, I'm glad she was just a broody! They can be kind of dramatic :shyduck:
I'm sorry to hear about those two, it's always hard when that happens :yotsuba_sad: may I ask what happened? We ended up losing two of our little ones to a hawk these past few weeks :pepeDread:

I hope so impers! The not pooping and constant straining is what worried me. Then she got a little weak and could barely stand. But that didn't last too long
Also, they kinda all squawk and puff up at me whenever I get too close while they're in the box. Sometimes they like me petting them.

Sorry I never got a chance to come back on then! I was wondering how she did, did she get better?

I thought so too. Figured for sure she would be a goner by now.
So on sunday around 3pm i found her in the nesting box trying to lay. She always took longer than the others so i didnt think nothing of it. By the time the others were roosting for the night she was still in the box. And straining. She was still there in the morning. She was puffed up. Her crop was hard (its normal now) She almost completely stopped eating and drinking for 2 days. And barely pooping. She was still straining. I did feel around for an egg but i felt nothing. My first thought was eggbound, all the signs were there. She seems totally fine now but it still concerns me she hasnt laid since atleast Saturday
My bigger hens did attack her, so i had to isolate her for a few days. Shes out with the others now in the yard , i got the bully in the run to prevent attacks just in case

Does she puff up and make funny noises when you get close to her, or when you reach out to pick her up in the nesting box? If she does, she might be broody, it might be likely, if you couldn't feel an egg and she keeps trying to get back to the nesting boxes. I hope this is the case for yours! Broodys aren't sick, they just wanna become mamas! They can be broken out of it by kicking them out of the boxes for a bit, until they calm down :blobheartcat:
We've had quite a few broody hens, and they've all just kind of refuse to leave the boxes on their own, and won't eat or drink without being forced to. Other hens will start attacking broodys because they get irritated and want the nesting box she's in. :animu_sigh:

Are you absolutely sure she's egg bound, like can you feel the egg in her abdomen? From what I understand she should be dead by now if it hasn't been laid. I've had hens before just stop laying randomly and then start again.
