   “President Donald Trump…dismissed the top copyright official in the nation, a position traditionally overseen by the legislative branch.

   Federal law provides that the Register of Copyrights be appointed by and supervised by the Librarian of Congress. The previous Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, was fired Thursday by the White House with no reason provided in a two sentence email. This action once again tramples on Congress’s Article One authority”

     Please contact your member immediately and remind them that Library of Congress is a legislative branch agency and the president does not have authority over it.

     Update: We have reports that DOGE has tried to enter the copyright office.
