@doctormo A Chinese writer around 1600 said that a very similar game in China dated back to the Han dynasty, which would make it 1800-2200 years old.

      Rock paper scissors
Rock paper scissors (also known by several other names and word orders, see § Names) is an intransitive hand game, usually played between two people, in which each player simultaneously forms one of three shapes with an outstretched hand. These shapes are "rock" (a closed fist), "paper" (a flat hand), and "scissors" (a fist with the index finger and middle finger extended, forming a V). The earliest form of "rock paper scissors"-style game originated in China and was subsequently imported into Japan, where it reached its modern standardized form, before being spread throughout the world in the early 20th century. A funny thought happened: How old is rock paper scissors? Then i thought, what would this same game look like to a Paleolithic hunter? Or if I time traveled and wanted to play a game with one could I teach it so it made sense?

I think rock. Rock is easy, rocks are rocks. Hand is next, replaces paper. Hand controls rock. Next is flint for scissors. Rock knaps flint, but flint cuts hand and hand controls rock.

      Rock, hand, flint.
