FFS, my fav tech podcast (I won’t shame), who’s been LLM-sceptical so far just came out as “must have a paid code assistant subscription” across all hosts. Is nothing sacred? :(

@janl can you elaborate on what they mean by the quoted words? like, if you aren't doing this thing we think you're not legit? like, you must do this in order to listen to the podcast?

@mattly but with nuance:
- Host 1 optimises for their own productivity, has been a solo / small team dev for over 20 years.
- Host 2 uses it to get a leg up with unfamiliar tech, but for ultimately low-hanging fruit that’s easily verifiable. Solo dev for 5+ years.
- Host 3 uses it to explore the existing solution space for a problem they know well.I’d argue 2&3 could be solved with being part of a human community. Host 1 I cannot help.

@mattly at least as a “this a tool you should know how to use when the task asks for it”
Also of note, they are all expert level developers, so they have an easier time spotting bad output.
But they utterly failed at being the good role models they usually are.
