     @augustus i feel like the original Matrix trilogy didn’t age well as other cyberpunk media - by depicting the “fake” reality as late 90s-2000s, the irony is that it’s become a time capsule of that era

     the animatrix frames the robots as another oppressed victim group like blacks or women and presents their oppression in terms of familiar 20th century images of protests and crackdowns. the humans are depicted committing robot genocide and the robots are shown as having more humanity and grace and innocence than the humans.
