   @sally It was better is some ways, worse in others - it previously required flash to play videos and there was not a free software implementation of flash for many years.
   
   Public invidious instances used to work just fine without JavaScript until all of the remaining ones started to deliver proprietary malware to the visitors and refuse to work unless it is executed.
