Great success! Fully refurbished 6th gen iPod, with a new battery, new display, and SD card storage upgrade. Not bad for an old man with arthritic fingers.

Shout outs to iFix it for tools and guides, and to Elite Obsolete Electronics (not sponsored) for the parts.

@bronze I wanted to revive this one for two reasons, one it was my wife's and I broke it years ago by accident, so I had to make that right, and second because I need an offline music source for the car, and a USB thumb drive doesn't cut it as far as the interface goes.

@prettygood I think so, using modern audio codecs. Ridiculous that. 415Mb was an audiobook. Now 3 hour podcasts can be half a gig. The microsd card worked well in it.

I liked that you could drag and drop files on it like a thumb drive. No need to go through some 3rd party software. Fm radio worked good, recording. And fit in my shirt pocket. I sewed to a split leather pouch to keep it from falling out.

Intuitive controls. It would easily remember to restart audiobooks from where left off

@prettygood I heard there's people who are installing custom firmware but I can't find my old iPod. I'd like to create some sync between it and my musicbee library, and upgrade my whole library to lossless. Also I gotta complete all the tags using discogs & vgmdb.

@Haleakalacrater I'm happy with them yeah. I bought the storage upgrade years ago, I actually broke the screen when I was installing it and never righted that until last night. The storage upgrade was from https://www.iflash.xyz/ and that has always worked well
