In what I guess is now a series of posts about random games I've picked up, here's Dolls Nest. Not all that far into the game yet, but I do really enjoy what I've played. Customizable character is a plus, and actually surprised me when I realized I need to collect customization items. A lot of cute designs overall, and fanservice outfits too (also that "thickness slider" is hilarious, the two extremes are looking anorexic or like she's in the final month of pregnancy).
The mecha combat is fun even if it's a little jank. There's intentional jank decisions like having turn speed be a stat, often leading to me flying off a cliff because I can't turn a corner fast enough. Then there's also just jank in general, like the game running poorly and nearly freezing every time a destructible object explodes. The game actually plays like a proper mecha game though, which is weird to say but I feel important to mention. Feels like there's a lot of modern RPG or open world games where the combat isn't supposed to be reskinned generic fantasy, but it is. Swords are there, but they need wind up to actually do damage, so running in for a stab isn't always a good move.
I don't really know what else to say, it looks nice and I've had the chance to hear a grand total of one music track so far. Something about this game though just speaks to me, pure jank born of desire.
