We had British English in year 5-7 and 9, US English in year 8 and 10, whatever we wanted in 11-13 and I spent a year in the US between 11 and 12.

My English language pronunciation/accent is a mess.

I recently tried to work on unifying it towards US English. After all I use US spelling, too.

But maybe with the US going down and becoming unvisitable maybe I should have chosen British English.

@atarifrosch I’m not really into watching stuff in English. If it’s available in German I watch it in German. With English subtitles if it’s originally English.

@GreenSkyOverMe My English pronounciation formed by watching movies and series (mostly) from US, so … 😉

But I find it really helpful, so I can understand a lot of different ways to speak English, from lots of US dialects to British English to even most of Australian English.

If the original language of a series/movie is English, I ignore the German audio track, even when ripping DVDs, and watch it in original only.

The only show I really still have trouble understanding is The Expanse. No, not the accent of the „Belters“, but the way one of the main characters speaks. I guess I have to watch it several more times to get that, too.
