Well, at least all that work having to reinstall the server OS and Plex resulted in MUCH faster video starts and snappier browsing. Kinda feels like a new server

@hellomiakoda what kinds of things slow that down, is it just extra running services from other installs accumulated over time?
I want to run a home made NAS at home, want to be cautious about that kinda thing if possible. -

@thejikz When I last installed, I accidentally ended up with an entire collection of desktop packages, including things like LibreOffice. This time, I was more careful to only install the DE itself (sometimes stuff is just easier in GUI). There's also less python shit going on. There's a new set of drivers for the nVidia card (used for transcoding). The fstab is simplified compared to what I had before. Getting the IPMI working seems to have improved post speed.

@hellomiakoda Ok that helps confirm my newly minted "don't just install all the things" way of setup. xD THANK YOU!!
I used to just install all the things.

@thejikz Just beware using a NAS. I'm pretty sure my friend's server is a NAS. Any of her content that has HDR breaks everything when I try to play it cause nothing of mine handles HDR, and it seems to crash the crap out of the transcoder.
