   @Hoehlenmensch good question, I am speaking in a moral sense rather than a legal sense in this case. I am fully aware that part of the purpose of the law is to preserve the status quo; therefore under this system (in the US anyway) the law is designed to prevent the oppressed from using violence in any way

     @tillshadeisgone I'm not sure what you mean with "should be able". Do you mean legally being allowed to use violence? Or do you ask if violent resistance is legitimate in a moral way?
