@cheeaun Pixelfed doesn't transcode video, or optimize it like Mastodon.
And its funny because with Loops, we handle video even better, using a two step process with an initial optimization on the mobile app and a final two pass optimization on the server.
I could have said Loops instead of Mastodon, either way, we do need to improve video in Pixelfed lol

@dansup thinking if PeerTube handle it even better 🤔 I'm wondering if it's HLS with adaptive streaming (which probably use even more storage space)?

@cheeaun We're implementing HLS in Loops, and it does increase storage but decreases bandwidth significantly
