@fen@zoner.work @halva@labyrinth.zone perhaps because PGP email was created back in the days where Internet infrastructure wasn't as good, so they slapped it on top of email to get it to work?
Like it seems reasonable to say "let's build a whole new cryptosystem and communication network from scratch" nowadays (we have a ton of those lol), but I imagine it wouldn't have been as easy in the early 2000s

@halva@labyrinth.zone i mean yeah, i'm not even talking about the flaws in pgp specifically which are well-documented, i'm more looking at why people are trying to heave email from an inherently insecure platform space into a secure one instead of using something better fit for purpose
