   I was going to post something funny this morning, but this is more amusing. It's truly hilarious how fast the US empire seems to be falling.

   Maybe in a few years after all this has sunk in and Americans can't afford to shit, let alone eat anymore, the US will have some more humility. Its delusions of grandeur on the world stage will have completely shattered, and it can join the rest of us in the civilised world as it builds back.

     Of course, we have similar issues here in Europe, the only difference is the EU is not technically a nation state. What happens in member states is mostly isollated. *Unless* maybe someone like Trump pulls off a coup against the European Commission one day. Not that I particularly like the EU either way.

     We in the UK are in the most ideal position: we're not part of the EU, and our politics is civil, for now. And our trade with the US is mostly services, not goods, so tariffs are for the birds.

     Personally, I wonder when we in Europe will start talking about the threat of American terrorists infiltrating and attacking our society; of Americans as our *enemy*. FBI agents are allowed to enter the UK, whereas FSB agents would be considered spies/terrorists.

     When you think about it though, all the infrastructure is in place. Big tech has all our data and can control what we see and hear (think facebook / advertising). All made in USA.

     USA stopped existing. What we have now is a facsimile.

     @nemobis That and all the coups the CIA has sponsored around the world, and the USA's invasions of various weaker countries over the years, bombing countries in the middle east.

     The irony is not lost on me.

     But now they're attacking Europe at scale, albeit economically; the example you gave is an isolated one. Until now, USA left Europe alone.

     I wonder how our media will react, especially if USA starts invading allies. Which is plausible, unfortunately, under the current reality of the world.
