   I think folks focusing on better energy solutions as a way out for capitalism are ultimately being very myopic, because they don't understand both sides of the genocidal coin we're looking at here; the question is not "can we do this without fossil fuels" - the rich people and the politicians don't care, they're not going to let you for the single most obvious reason you can possibly imagine, but never cross reference with your analysis of the energy sector.

     The truth is we've already booked, as in written in the money machine, more than enough fossil fuels to burn the planet to a crisp. All that money has been counted, wealth has been allocated, loans have been issued, stock prices have been set, based on oil and gas we haven't burnt yet. Entire planks of the global economy, entire fortunes of the richest ppl on earth, are dependent on the assumption these fuels are already spoken for/monetized/and burnt. If you end oil, you take away their money.
