   I don’t typically love most of the prepared meals at Trader Joe’s but i was recently introduced to one of their newish habanero hot sauces. Which is legitimately hot. When I’m in Monterey for days at a time it can be hard to meal prep, so I do end up with some TJ’s food. I’ve learned that if I douse it with said hot sauce, I can accept most of their food

     When I’m in Monterey I guess I ‘get’ why people love TJ’s. When I’m in SF I can easily grab any southeast Asian ingredient 2 min from home, and I never really have to go to a grocery store. The lack of diversity in Monterey grocery store options is something new to me.

     Luckily I can still order stuff from Weee online, or if I have time I like to go to the Korean stores in Seaside. But for ‘I need a grocery run for food in the next 15 min’ TJ’s is a godsend for price and convenience I guess.

     When I think of my life in SE Asia, where I never had a single frozen meal, or even frozen anything.. I get a little sad

     @skinnylatte You haven't visited Tokyo Oriental Foods in Salinas yet, perchance? I used to go there a lot, mostly for treats but sometimes for rice and stuff. I don't know of anyone else who has been there.

     @skinnylatte it’s weird to say, but somehow Trader Joe’s frozen food made my kids more adventurous eaters. Neither used to tolerate any spice. But a Mac and cheese with some hatch green chile put them both on the path. And both of them eat stuff from TJ’s that they’d never order in a restaurant or eat if we cooked.
