Hong Kong Chinese breakfast places are very nice and familiar places for me. Usually they have good breakfast sets, in flavors and configurations I like (omelette with soy sauce + soft bread + noodles + tea = $10 or something ridiculous)

In SF I like VIP and G & Y. In LA county I like JJ Cafe.

The food, tea, soft and warm breads, and overall experience of being surrounded by old Chinese people in the diaspora is what gives me joy.
