Q5. What are some things an automobile driver might not realize unless they've also ridden a cycle?

@ascentale @bikenite A5: Exactly how big an asshole they're being when they zoom by close.
There was a video going around not long ago about making bus drivers be on a stationary bike and having another bus zoom by too close and watching them freak out so they know.
Kinda think drivers should have to do that.

A5. As someone who ONLY RECENTLY got back to bicycling after decades. (was bicycling before I was driving, but then life got in the way, and traffic got very bad, and then finally they put some bike lanes here and I decided to quit burning as much gas):
1. BICYCLING IS FASTER IN TOWN THAT DRIVING A CAR!! (in many cases, especially in traffic, and especially to/from school!)
2. LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE TURNING RIGHT AT A STOP LIGHT! So many car drivers don't even look to the right for pedestrians or bicyclists and just look left and cut hard onto the road they're going...
3. YOUR EV IS NOT MORE ECO FRIENDLY THAN PEDALING. I see so many people within bicycle range of stores driving 2000 lbs of batteries and plastic to the store for a stick of butter or whatnot. It just alleviates their guilt, without actually fixing the problem.
4. THE FIELD OF VIEW in cars is very bad. Some cars, VERY VERY BAD. Your field of view in a bicycle is VERY GOOD. I really prefer the bicycle.
5. If you bicycle a lot, riding a car is frustrating... particularly in traffic which is moving slower than you could bicycle (or walk!). It's like you're trapped in the car. On a bicycle, you're not trapped. You can get off. You can take a break. You can go to a nearby store without fighting for parking. You forget that when you are a driver.
