   Does someone tell me how they structure their meme folder?
   
   I'm kind of interested in exploring solutions.
   
   Do you use a nice folder structure ordering images per topic or something?
   
   Do you use some sort of tagging system such as hydrus or hosting a local booru?
   
   Does anyone actually use image recognition software to tag images?
   
   Or something entirely else?
   
   Proprietary software solutions not appreciated.

     @SuperDicq@minidisc.tokyo i use a set of Hydruses (?) for collecting artwork and keeping other images around. I don't like the idea of having just one of them for keeping the entirety of my images because it feels like it's thrown together somewhat. A catastrophic event would be awful even if I have a backup. And for tagging the images I use deep Danbooru, it isn't perfect but gets the job done

     @waifu@mai.waifuism.life Hydrus is an absolutely terrible case of "chanware" but at least it works somewhat I guess.
     And for tagging the images I use deep Danbooru, it isn't perfect but gets the job doneIsn't that just for images of waifus? I'm talking memes here.

     @mer@shrine.moe Yeah filenames alone suck and is lots of stuff you need to remember. I think some sort of tagging system is much better.

     @SuperDicq unhelpful comment but I used to be a regular of filename threads on /tg/ where you'd post an image that would be anything, sometimes funny on its own but oftentimes not and the filename would be a caption to make it a tabletop related joke
     so all the filenames before I stopped (which is a lot) are manually given but non descriptive, I used to be able to remember the filename and efficiently pick pictures in seconds but I can't anymore and some of the filenames are now cringy or just inscrutable to me

     @waifu@mai.waifuism.life I also think a good system would need at least some OCR features because if an image contains text you want all the text in the image to be searchable.

     @mer@shrine.moe Just because you use an image tagging system doesn't mean you lose the filenames.
