OK Sisko's response is interesting. Since the Federation, a post scarcity society, has been giving Quark the space and power and water and air for his bar for free, Quark can either negotiate with the union or pay the Federation for the value of all those things.
Analogous to people suing Exxon for climate damages. The exploiters are the parasites. The freeloaders. They owe us everything they have.

I like Rom's reasoning. If the cops are coming after you for talking about a union, you may as well form a union.
@SallyStrange OTOH, it's a Star Trek episode where they quote the Communist Manifesto approvingly, and O'Brien talks about historic labor struggles.
IIRC, it aired like a week after a Babylon 5 episode about dockworkers going on strike. It was a good month for leftists watching TV about space stations.
@SallyStrange One thing that bugged me about that episode is that you'd think if the Federation was good for anything, it would be protecting labor organizing rights.
