I see the same kind of criticism aimed at Asahi Linux and Chrultrabook, "Why bother supporting Linux on this hardware, just stop buying bad laptops"

Not supporting Linux on Apple Silicon or Chromebooks, won't at all slow down the sales of these devices, but what it does do is give these devices the ability to have a second life once they've gone EOL saving at least some of them from going straight into e-waste

All Chromebooks come with Gentoo GNU/Linux with a desktop environment without freedom?

You went from GNU/Linux to GNU/Linux, with the visual difference being a desktop environment with (some) freedom and you think you installed "Linux"?

@BrodieOnLinux And sometimes the hardware can be genuinely nicer than the usual alternatives. Linux on a Chromebook Pixel (2015) remains my best Linux experience to date.

So what kernel comes on those Chromebooks, Brodie?

Unfortunately the apple laptops are handcuffed, to ensure that it is cryptographically impossible for the user to have freedom, meaning they're e-waste right out of the factory.

@BrodieOnLinux Which is specially relevant to chromebooks since those are probably by far one of the most e-wasted laptops.

Plus well computers are typically just considered waste just due to lack of basic maintenance (like making sure there's space left on the filesystem) and/or OS destroying itself.

@BrodieOnLinux After 15 years with Thinkpads, I don't know what to buy next since Thinkpads are now total carbage. There's Framework, but I have my doubts for chassis, keyboard + it's missing trackpoint.

System76's Virgo won't be ready before my T580 dies. I even bought 2 new Ryzen-Thinkpads after T580 but their chassis didn't last.
