Something that DOES come to mind, though, is in one of the more recent Star Wars movies, they do a casino heist.
But, at some point, one character (Rose? Dunno) looks and says 'these animals are being fucked up' and frees them.
A normal RPG adventure would show you the animals then press upon you how you can't stop to help them, KEEP GOING, despite you having no real reason not to fuck up people who are shit to animals.

... and watching the movie, you kinda groan and go 'ugh, but the mission', but... no, as much as I don't like Rose, it's good to free the animals and fuck up the casino.
But the narrative of Star Wars is all about the BIG FIGHT which then comes down to... a ridiculously small number of characters, every single time.

So, I get that if you are THE BIG HERO ON THE IMPORTANT MISSION, maybe you don't have time to stop for the animals.
maybe if you are THE ROGUE BASTARD, maybe you're just too jaded to care about the animals.
But most 'adventurer' characters, just starting out, SHOULD STOP FOR THE ANIMALS.
13 barn owls in a trenchcoat repeated this. -

I never quite 'got' Ultima VIII, for a long time. It was presented to me strangely, I couldn't work out what Pagan was, why we were there, etc (the intro didn't work on my PC).
But the basics are, it's the idea you take a 'good man' like a Priest, and plonk him down in dangerous land and make him do what he has to in order to get back to where he's needed.
... and (spoiler) the Avatar FUCKS PAGAN SO BAD, but it makes sense - the Avatar has to stop the Guardian, which is a multiversal threat.

Oddly enough, I'm good with the metaplot of Vampire/Mage, in vampire you can technicallllly diablerise your way to the top?
Mage also basically says 'haha you got too powerful, now fuck off elsewhere or reality will dick punch you', so that also kinda culls out the top levels?

Pondering, I think part of the other reason why I minorly bounce off Star Wars, is that some of the RPG adventures will take you somewhere and go 'ooh, look, slavers! ANYWAY ignore that, go do a heist!' or something.
... as though you're meant to be 'wow, I guess I can't do anything here, better go do main plot'.
Like... no, I wanna kill slavers, kthx.

... and my group are pretty good with 'the plot of the adventure says this, let's go that way' for the most part, but sometimes it vibes a little bad, and that's not my group's fault, nor the GM's fault, it's the adventure writer's fault.
But I suspect, if I pick up a rock, I'll find that Star Wars is just like that(tm)

My character seduced a guard by accident and then three others decided to leave rather than deal with the situation.
Yep.

Star Wars still is very 'yeah, ok' for me. It's easy to pick up and play in, but I just never feel amazingly invested in the setting.

Part of this, is knowing that out there, somewhere, is a much bigger 'FUCK YOU, YOU'RE ALL DEAD' plot that makes a lot of stuff irrelevant (which is the same argument some make about the metaplot of World of Darkness, specifically Vampire & Mage)

I'm ok with that in a movie, but as a setting, it feels like the whole thing floats like cardboard on water. Looks fine, but put any weight on it, and you drown.

What I'm getting at, is I know other people like Star Wars, but the Skywalker stuff is like, the (Tower/Rose) of the whole setting, and I just don't actually feel it's strong enough to hold it.

I'm not going to claim that The Dark Tower is better than Star Wars, but I like Roland a LOT more than Luke.

Is Roland a piece of shit?
Yes.
But he's forced into so many situations and being a piece of shit is what he has to do, in order to get to the Tower.

It's awful to fuck Pagan to save Britannia, but it's not just Britannia, it's other places too.
So, I get that.
Sometimes you can't stop to save the animals.
BUT, a lot of rpg adventures I've read, there's zero reason not to stop for the animals along the way.

... and this is where Star Wars doesn't fuckin' jive with me. My knowledge? Limited.
But Luke Skywalker doesn't (to my knowledge) have that 'I will do ANYTHING to fuck up the Empire'.
But you can't stop for the animals, either.

Like, kinda feels like everyone else has to make the 'do I stop for the animals? NO, the mission!' decisions and Luke is just 'yeah, ok, so I gotta go kill my dad?'
