   I really hope Mastodon is doing something to stop the bot attack, because I am being absolutely firehosed with new empty profiles every day.

   They have no text, no profile image, no posts, and look oddly similar.

   This looks autogenerated to me.

     @randahl Just as a side note, if you're not comfortable with unfamiliar follows you can turn off the "Feature profile and posts in discovery algorithms" setting in your Privacy and Reach preferences. This will remove your posts from Explore and your profile from new user onboarding. The latter is probably where these new followers come from.

     @Gargron thank you Eugen. I am posting this because I care about Mastodon, and I worry that all these profiles are being made in preparation for misinformation attacks.

     I would really like to know what is being done to address this. It means the world to me that Mastodon succeeds.
