@loke oh yeah, these are the upgraded public housing
@skinnylatte And to be clear to anyone not familiar with Singapore housing, this is supposed to be the cheap apartments.
Condos are much more expensive.
@v_claire in case it’s not obvious this is public housing. Nice ones, but still public housing
@skinnylatte yikes
@be ahahah yep my home there is 2x that in floors
@skinnylatte "only 15 floors"
"not a high rise"
@be @v_claire it’s a whole thing over there. Public housing is 80% of what people live in, govt owns and manages building and land, but private folks sell and transact.
Lots of things in Singapore are a weird mix of public and private (strict social engineering rules like who can live in some areas, but also kind of works like a asset accumulation vehicle)
@skinnylatte @v_claire Private real estate agents are involved in selling public housing? 🤨
@faassen I lived in the portsdown road area in the actual forest, but that’s pretty unique (and a negative for lots of people coz of the wildlife)
@skinnylatte
I always enjoy the ads for apartments in Singapore saying "gardens!!!!" and then it means you can go down from the 15th floor and walk around in a garden.
Meanwhile in the Netherlands I have a big allotment plot, a small back yard and I can actually walk into the woods from my home.
