@matty_ebooks I'd just like to interject for a moment.
Linux is only a kernel, not an OS.
The only similarity Linux has to Unix kernels is that both are proprietary software.
Proprietary versions of GNU/Linux became mainstream years ago, just most people have never heard of GNU; https://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu-users-never-heard-of-gnu.html or realize that Linux is proprietary software; https://www.fsfla.org/ikiwiki/selibre/linux-libre/
If you want to use something non-mainstream for the sake of being different, the winner move is to install GNU/Linux-libre (as you end up using a 100% free OS).
