     They actually keep you alive for the purpose of taking your organs, because an organ donor must be alive for the organs to be viable.
     
     An organ donor is alive when they are cut open, without pain medication (only paralysis medication) and they die because their organs are removed, while alive.
     
     There is no such thing as "brain dead" - that's a made up term. If your brain is dead, you are dead and cannot donate organs.
     
     It's a barbaric practice.
