   That would be significant evolutionary pressure.
   
   This is an interesting list, and most of them seem risky. Ingested tobacco can make people really sick. But most pesticides are nicotine based, so it seems plausible.

     the last point may explain excessive pepper consumption, it doesnt merely cover the rotten meat it kills the worms
