Stiff neck from sleeping poorly. Already took my second ibuprofen. Need advice on any stretches or self massage stuff I can do with basically zero equipment available. I don't care if I look like a circus performer in my office. The pain needs to stop.

@BowsacNoodle These work fairly well for a bad neck. I mean, you'll stop complaining afterwards at least. Heh...

@fknretardlol Am I to use my left arm to pull left and right to pull right? Do I open my shoulders while doing by widening my opposing shoulder? I'm all hunched forward in a ball type thing with my shoulders tight too. Not enough sleep + a bad angle + women up several times by kids.

Actually, I take that advice thing back. Heat always lessened pain the last few times I suffered stiff neck the past couple of years, but you probably already know that.

@SuperSnekFriend Heat would help with this, yes. I guess I could go buy a heat pack or some cheap rice and use one of my emergency socks (I always keep a spare pair in the glove box).

@BowsacNoodle just go get adjusted, find a doctor who doesn't put you in a contract. Most adjustments are $40, worth the money.

I have this problem frequently enough that I have a whole itinerary of stretches.

      First stretch:
      1. Tilt head to right so ear touches shoulder
      2. Pivot head so you're looking down toward your left pectoral
      3. Raise your right arm and rest your palm above your left ear
      4. Pull with your right arm and hold for a 10 count
      5. Repeat 1-4 with other side
-- You should feel the stretch around the left side of your trapezius and it should work out the blue, green, and red muscles in this diagram

@nine2fivestudio This helped substantially with one side, thank you. I will try again a few more times for both sides and see if it loosens the rest of the way.

@BowsacNoodle you're welcome, the neck is risky business, beyond common stretches, I'd leave it to professionals.

@nine2fivestudio Seems like I have a knot in my left trap. It's a big one, near where the neck meets the shoulder, about an inch or two down all the way up to my shoulder itself. Mobility is back on my right side, so I can turn my head to the left pretty far now.
