   Mom sent me this picture of a nest of mourning doves that her and my dad found nesting atop the patio ceiling fan at their Florida condo. Very next thing she sent was a text expressing her irritation over them pooping on the patio, she's never been much of an animal person for some reason. I don't see what the big deal is, they're cute (and protected by federal law). Those chicks are pretty grown and the nice birb family will likely be gone within a few weeks. They ain't hurtin' nobody.

     Even if they weren't protected, messing with a mourning doves' nest sounds like asking for a bad omen. Hopefully they don't do anything stupid and leave 'em alone, they're leaving Florida tomorrow anyway.
