I'm looking for a #mesh messenger application for Android that doesn't require registering an account on a remote network server despite claiming that it can function without the internet. - Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this.

@txt_file @briar have each node on the network also act as a router, enabling messages to travel long distances on the network through strangers. That's how mesh networks generally work. -

@Polychrome #Qaul comes to my mind, it's in development for quite some time: https://qaul.net/. But haven't really used it myself yet. What I did use successfully is @mwarning 's simplistic #Meshenger: https://github.com/meshenger-app/meshenger-android
But despite its name it doesn't have a built-in #mesh feature, you'd need to use it over a layer 2 #MeshNetwork like @batadv / #Freifunk. Similarly, for texting instead of voice @pidgin's #Bonjour Chat comes to my mind (but I think there is no Android app for it yet?)Polychrome :blabcat: likes this.
