   記事の最後のこの記述が本当に恐ろしい。愚か者に舵取りを任せると、アメリカだけでなく世界中が道連れになってしまう。

     ロバート・ケネディjrは、鳥インフルエンザは拡がるに任せて、その中を生き残った「免疫のある鳥」を（繁殖させて）利用すればいいと言っているらしい。
     あまりのことに、空いた口が塞がらない。インフルエンザウイルスは変異しやすいので、拡がるに任せればそれだけ多種の変異株ができて、仮にある株に免疫を持った個体がいても別の株にやられてしまうだろう。そして、そういう変異株の中から人間への感染性と病原性を備えたものが出現する確率を増やしてしまう。このままなら、アメリカで人類への大量感染が起きるのは時間の問題だろう。
     そしてこれは、人間の移動を制限すれば済むという話じゃない。鳥の感染症なので、アメリカを通る渡り鳥がアメリカ以外にも広めるだろう。鳥の渡りは基本的に南北移動なのだろうけど、東西に大西洋や太平洋を越えて世界中に広まる可能性だってある。
