The thing about the dealership biz is that every single day one of those cars sits on their lot they're losing money. That's why if you're going to buy a new car, you want to look for anything from last model year that's still sitting on the lot.

@Hoss @Nudhul Bought a late year fleet vehicle with 60 miles on it for $1200 off. Dealerships need us more than the other way around

My boss used to work the lot at a Chevy dealership, and he said the best deal he ever saw a customer get on a car was the guy who bought a Corvette they'd had sitting on the floor for over a year. Dude got the red carpet treatment when he bought that thing.

@Hoss @Nudhul A vehicle is a means to an end, not the end to itself. I hate upsale and status bullshit. The dealership makes thousands in profit on any sale it makes.

Another funny story from my grandpa was when he bought a car from the local Honda dealership. He went there every day and lingered around, refusing to close a deal on a car he felt they were screwing him on. He kept this up for a hilariously absurd length of time until the owner himself told his sales staff to just sell the fucking car to him at a $500 loss to get him out of his showroom and that he never wanted to see him in his showroom again. The salesman even showed my dad the books and proved they lost $500 on the sale just to finally get rid of him.

@Hoss @Nudhul That's funny, but still a gay pageantry to get an honest deal on a vehicle purchase. The whole system to buy a car is fucked up

It's the kind of game only somebody like my grandpa could play because at that point he was an old man making money from several different businesses around the state that were managed by people he trusted, so he had time to burn just to make a point.

@Hoss @Nudhul I'm happy for your grandpa, but for every sale at a loss, 500 people buy a vehicle at a retardedly high price because salesmen make commission
