@grammargirl I've heard of kids being taken to animal shelters (in both UK and USA) and being encouraged to read aloud to rescue cats and dogs (that way they aren't embarrassed if they struggle with some words, and the cats and dogs get used to people)

Get your kids to read aloud. It makes a difference! 📚
I learned a lot about literacy in my interview with Kate Crist, but there's even more. Today, I learned that having kids read aloud helps them learn to read, ESPECIALLY when someone else reads the passage aloud for them first.
