Don't be fooled by the name imitation vanilla is just as good as real vanilla in most cases its called for. (if you ignore the cost aspect)

The only exceptions being things like vanilla frosting or ice cream where the vanilla is the point but anything with any other flavors added? Real vanilla is a waste of money.
