Do people actually use LLMs for anything useful? Every single time I've wasted time with them .. they hallucinate. It is worse than talking to a junior developer ...

@amszmidt As a Latin teacher I sometimes make multiple choice translation questions, so I need to come up with incorrect translations for the distraction answers. LLMs are great for that: it's the most use I've gotten out of them.

@amszmidt I use LLMs almost constantly when programming. What I’ve found the most useful is having an LLM find answers about code for me. Claude Code did a great job at answering “what does the version need to be set to in a 9P QID to hint that it shouldn’t be cached” … but for every good example I can give you several disappointing ones.

@jpf I asked, "give me the definition of FOO function" ... it started giving me entirely different things. I've literally never had any "luck" getting anything useful from LLMs.... And I think that there could be some useful cases, but none of them really work .. and cause more work/pain.
