@GossiTheDog for something as important as Heathrow, I'm genuinely surprised that a single sub station should take the whole airport offline...you'd think they'd have better resilience.

@GossiTheDog Talk about single point of failure. A failed substation should be a case of switching around, power issue for an hour tops. Heathrow also had a massive battery backup - I went there as part of a battery monitoring system install, though that was 30 years ago. It was huge - a costco sized warehouse full of racks and racks of cells. I wonder if someone decided it was too expensive in the intervening years?
