    So, my NES has been doing the power light flicker and not showing any game. I did some things to try to clean it a bit, but I could do more. I hear this could be due to the lockout chip going bad, and some suggestions to cut the connection to fix it. Anything less drastic to try first?

      @infinitemetal its possible bent pins in the cartridge slot could be causing it. I'd suggest replacing the pin connector with a new one. here's a tutorial you can follow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wwXY2caxOA

      Oh yea, back in the day I've replaced more than one pin connector. This one I might have done that on too. I've heard lately though the after market ones really aren't as good as the OEM and often enough they just needed cleaning.
