@a1ba @meeper look, if a billionaire wants to do it that means its legal. that's how society works. Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this. -

@meeper @a1ba i've seen the papers where they showed no transformer network can perform simple logic tasks reliably.
whatever productivity you got from using an LLM is because what you were doing is just retracing a solved problem (probably stolen from GPL code at that.) -

@icedquinn@blob.cat @a1ba@suya.place true, and honestly useful the few times I've used it for code but in extremely restricted settings and as a syntax best practice confirmation.
Though tbh the upper bound of their capabilities when you use them well is impressive. -

@meeper @a1ba anoyingly we HAD real tools of power (smalltalk, refactory browser) and still have some (neural search) but for whatever reason we reject those and use the hallucination generators.
i dunno. i really don't. -

@a1ba > A key part of the definition of vibe coding is that the user accepts code without full understanding.[1]
Sometimes I wish computers would work more like regular machines where you typically harm yourself instead of others. -

@meeper @a1ba i've seen a whitepaper that also optimizes stuff like this, we just don't use it.

@icedquinn@blob.cat @a1ba@suya.place turing test stuffbit's easier for the normies to see it do stuff (and looks good enough that even good folk are fooled) and when it works its also more general (not close to reliable) so people can easily integrate it without good engineering, also buzzword management make it incentivised to be implemented
