     A statement from the Kremlin, however, said that #Russia had agreed to a partial ceasefire.
     I guess #Trump didn’t understand 🤦🏼♀️.

     It was unclear how #Ukraine would respond to the Kremlin’s statement: it falls short of the unconditional 30-day US-backed #ceasefire proposal that Ukraine had already said it would support.

     #Trump & #Putin also discussed the #MiddleEast & agreed the region could serve as a place for potential cooperation to prevent future conflicts. The White House said they discussed "the need to stop proliferation of strategic weapons" & agreed that "#Iran should never be in a position to destroy #Israel."

     On Sunday, ahead of the call, #Trump told reporters that negotiations have progressed so far that he & #Putin would be discussing "dividing up certain assets," including land & power plants. [WTF?]

     "It's a bad situation in #Russia, & it's a bad situation in #Ukraine," Trump told reporters on Monday. "What's happening in Ukraine is not good, but we're going to see if we can work a peace agreement, a ceasefire & peace. And I think we'll be able to do it."

     The two *leaders* spoke by phone Tues morning & discussed the need for "a lasting peace agreement" as well as " improved bilateral relations between the #UnitedStates & #Russia," acc/to a White House stmnt.
     "The leaders agreed that the movement to peace will begin with an #energy & #infrastructure #ceasefire, as well as technical negotiations on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the #BlackSea, full ceasefire & permanent peace. These negotiations will begin immediately in the #MiddleEast”
