hungary started a process of outlawing the pride parade, and making it a felony so people who attend it can get fined
can these fuckers please be shown their place and/or excluded from EU?
there’s no human rights, no freedom of press, no working law system, the whole country belongs to a group of corrupt oligarchs who are eager to act as ruzzian agents.
for all intents and purposes hungary is indistinguishable from transnistria. but recognized and somehow is in EU

@byte poland was in semi the same sitation, things seem to get better there, i just hope hungary liberates itself of this too
polls now suggest this is highly plausible

@byte surrendering to helplessness is only a gift for the fascists

@NeonPurpleStar hoping to outvote fascists that are in power for decades never goes well historically. And there’s zero demand for a general strike or rioting, even the thought of it is unimaginable for locals

@NeonPurpleStar well for now the only hope is external pressure from EU frankly speaking. Cancelling the veto principle and changing it to 2/3 or 3/4 of the votes so hungary can go fuck itself with its shitty agenda, then do a thorough audit of the government in the international court.
There’s some opposition in the face of tisza party, but the next voting will be in 2026, and again, it’s trying to outplay the fascists who change the rules on the go and do gerrymandering as they please. In zero scenarios this goes well

@byte well, you have to start from somewhere, protests are meant to be disruptive for things like the economy
if you protest and for instance organise bank runs to withdraw money, that could really start shaking things

@NeonPurpleStar unless those protests look like they did in Ukraine in 2013-2014 - I have zero expectations from them. For now they solve and achieve nothing, but look good on camera, yeah
